If people are constantly on social media, is there really a best time to post?

Yes there is! Depending on industry and specific audience, this varies, but there are general guidelines to follow.

If you’d like to throw caution to the wind and be very broad, the best time to post is between 7am and 10am CST, Monday – Wednesday. But, be warned, this does not take into consideration who your audience is, where they live, what industry your business is in, etc.

To go into further detail, read on.

Facebook

Facebook has made, and continues to make a ton of algorithm changes to try and keep both users and businesses happy. But, more recently, Facebook has changed their algorithm to concentrate audiences timelines more on friends and family, over companies.

B2B – For business to business companies, the best time to post is between 7am and 12pm CST, Tuesday – Thursday.

B2C – For business to consumer companies, the best time to post is around 10am CST, Monday – Wednesday.

Twitter

The lifespan of a tweet is very short, so the time you tweet matters more compared to the other social networks. Therefore, it is best to tweet several times a day to higher your chance of reaching your audience. But, if you were to do this on Facebook, it would become spam-like and Facebook wouldn’t show your posts to your audience.

B2B – For business to business companies, the best time to post is between 7am and 2pm CST, Monday or Thursday.

B2C – For business to consumer companies, the best time to post is between 10am and 11am CST, Monday – Wednesday.

Instagram

Instagram has become increasingly popular and it’s not slowing down. It has also taken a tip from Facebook and changed their algorithm to show friends and families posts first and companies after. In addition, Instagram also favors recency and shows the most recent posts to when a user opens the app.

B2B – For business to business companies, the best time to post is between 9am and 10am CST, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

B2C – For business to consumer companies, the best time to post is between 12pm and 3pm CST, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the opposite of Twitter, where the lifespan of a post is quite long compared to the other social networks. This means there’s a much higher chance of your audience seeing your posts regardless of what time your company posts at.

B2B – For business to business companies, the best time to post is between 7am and 12pm CST, Tuesday or Wednesday.

B2C – For business to consumer companies, the best time to post is between 10am and 1pm, and 5pm – 6pm CST, Monday or Wednesday.

Ultimately, each company will have their own times and days where their social media platforms are receiving the most reach and engagement. The best way to find the right times for your business is to know your audience.

Keep track of your analytics and which posts do better than others. Many platforms give you insights which tell you when your audience is online and looking at your posts. Plus, there are third party platforms, for your social media channels that don’t, that you can purchase which will track all of this information for you. Check out how Murray Media Group can help you manage all of this with our social media management services.
